What comes to your mind when you think of curiosity? From my experience, whenever I am curious about something it is usually worth looking into, but how can we always be curious? This is a question that I have been struggling to answer myself because I go through something that I call, streaks of curiosity. I may be curious about a lot of things for one week, then the next week, I have the curiosity of a fat old guy, looking at a 6 mile hike.
As I dive deeper into being curious, I slowly realized that that moment where I am suddenly not curious in the things I previously was, it means I am not seeing the progress that I am making. For example, whether I am not seeing progress in the gym, with investments, or just general work, I lose interest in these things. We MUST realize that this stuff happens to everyone. All these successful people aren’t running around 1000 mph, all the time, happy as an alcoholic when prohibition was over. As humans, we are hardwired to experience burnout with things we previously thought were important to us.
So, knowing that this happens to everyone and it is completely natural, we must remember why we started doing the work in the first place. Also, look at the progress that you have made from start to where you are now. If that is not the biggest motivator to get off your trunk and learn everything you can about what it takes to be successful then I don’t know what is. Remember when you didn’t know if you could learn a certain skill and then you did! Because by remembering what you have done, what you can do becomes so much easier to achieve.
So, whenever you are feeling not interested, in the things you KNOW were important in your life at one point. Remember how far you have come, and use that as something to fuel your curiosity.
Thank you
I am curious to know your guys’ input on this subject!
As always, remember, today is a great day to have a great day!
